STOP USING TASK MANAGER TO KILL OUTLOOK.EXE!
Are you frustrated like I am that Microsoft**
Outlook* doesn't shutdown. When you exit Outlook
does it stay running the background
wasting system resources? We'll if you are then you need
Shutdown Addin. Outlook is notorious for hanging around in the background when a user exits the application. The
cause of this is partly a random behavior of Outlook itself and
most often a user installed addin that does not release itself from Outlook correctly. Typically, the solution is to uninstall
the offending addin. However, if you really like an addin and can't wait for the developer to fix it or have no
addin's installed and Outlook STILL stays running the background then you'll
want to try Shutdown Addin.
"I was going insane without this program."
-- Kathy Perry from Canada
Shutdown Addin works by hooking into events
triggered by Outlook and invoking a series of
commands to help Outlook exit. After a certain
timeout period, if Outlook still doesn't exit, then
the process is forcefully exited.
 |
Once installed, Shutdown
Addin inserts a property page into Outlook's
Tools->Options dialog that allows you to
quickly and easily change any of Shutdown
Addins options. You can control the
following options:
- Enable/Disablethe addin
- Increase or Decrease the time you
want Shutdown Addin to wait before
forcing Outlook close.
- Enable or Disable the shutdown
process dialog that Shutdown Addin
displays when Outlook exists.
